5-Day Fly-In Photography Safari – Amboseli & Maasai Mara

5 Days 4 Nights

Overview

A fly-in photography safari through Amboseli and the Maasai Mara is designed specifically for photographers seeking Kenya’s most iconic wildlife images. This 5-day journey begins in Amboseli National Park, the premier destination for photographing massive elephant herds against the snow-capped backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, an image that has graced the covers of countless nature magazines. Your photography-focused guide understands light, composition, and animal behaviour, positioning your vehicle for optimal shooting angles during golden hour and anticipating wildlife movements to capture decisive moments. A scenic flight then carries you to the Maasai Mara, where the highest density of big cats in Africa creates unparalleled opportunities for action photography, from lions on the hunt to cheetah in full sprint. This fly-in photography safari eliminates transit days and maximizes your time behind the lens. Every element of this safari is optimized for photography. Game drives are scheduled around the golden hours of early morning and late afternoon when the light is warm and directional. Your vehicle has guaranteed window seats with bean bags for lens support, and extended game drives allow you to wait patiently for the perfect moment rather than rushing between sightings. In Amboseli, the dried lake bed creates dramatic dust-swirl compositions, and the permanent swamps attract birds and hippos into frame alongside the elephants. In the Mara, your guide navigates the reserve’s predator hotspots where lion pride dynamics, leopard tree-climbing, and cheetah hunts unfold with stunning regularity. Whether you shoot with a smartphone or a professional DSLR with a 600mm lens, this safari provides the subjects, settings, and expert guidance to help you capture truly extraordinary wildlife photographs.

Highly recommend Kelvin of Rustic Nature Tours. We saw his great reviews on Facebook. We wanted to be in a small group and to visit the elephants orphanage and giraffe santiary in Nairobi. Kevin delivered all this and took us to a wonderful community project making beautiful beads. We highly recommend Kelvin and his professionalism.

We wanted to be in a small group and wanted to do a half day tour to experience the amazing elephant orphanage in Nairobi National Park and the giraffes sanctuary. We also didn’t want to have to go out too early having only just arrived. Kelvin of ‘Rustic Nature Tours’ delivered this all perfectly for us. A she took us to a community project supporting local women with making beautiful beads which was wonderful. He was very knowledgable and interesting and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and this company. They also do all sorts of Safaris so we will contact him again when we return. PS please note separate to any tour booking the guest must pay a park fee per person and it’s best to do this in advance via the National park website

Found Rustic tours via a recommendation on Facebook as I needed a Nairobi layover tour guide. Contacted Kelvin and we agreed quickly on what to do and see. He picked us up on airport in the morning in his crazy safari car and we saw downtown, giraffes and we did the Nairobi safari. Got to day that I laughed a lot with Kelvin as he is a great person! He did everything he could so we could see as much as possible in our short time window. See you again my friend!

Had a long layover and booked this last minute. So glad I did! Nicole kept our bags in the car and took us back to the airport after the drive. What a drive! Saw a family of rhinos and a pride of lions. Nicole also recommended a Kenyan cuisine restaurant when we asked. She was very knowledgeable, funny, and we really enjoyed our time with her and the tour. Recommend to everyone

What a fantastic day tour to Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage, and a surprise garden lunch. Our guide, Calvin, a top notch birder and guide paced the day perfectly and provided us with an excellent experience! We have travelled to Kenya multiple times, but our private tour with Rustic Nature Tours and Calvin in particular ranks as a highlight among our experiences.

The sights were once in a lifetime - elephant orphanage and giraffe sanctuary worth a trip to Nairobi. Kelvin, our guide, was great - picked us up on time, pointed out animals on the way, was full of information. Will refer any friends visiting Nairobi his way!
