January–February
Leave room for both safari and sea.
January and February are generally warm and relatively dry in much of Kenya, including the south coast, though rain is still possible. Combine a private wildlife safari with Diani beach time if your available nights allow. Confirm sea conditions for boat trips and water activities; warm weather does not mean calm seas.
March–May
Plan around the long rains.
March to May is Kenya’s main long-rains season. Road access, walking routes and lodge operations vary by location and recent rainfall. Agree a practical route and check the actual accommodation and activity arrangements for your travel dates.
June–September
Give the wildlife time.
Much of eastern Kenya is relatively dry in these months, while western Kenya and parts of the Rift Valley can still receive rain. Highland mornings and evenings can be cool. Allow enough nights for a Mara or Amboseli safari; for migration interests, choose the Mara camp around expected herd locations. Arrival dates and river crossings vary with rainfall and animal movements.
October–December
Keep the route flexible.
October to December is the short-rains season across much of Kenya. Timing and intensity vary by region and year. Check the current regional forecast, allow flexibility for access and sea conditions, and confirm holiday accommodation before finalising the journey.
Are your Kenya safaris private?
Yes. Rustic Nature Tours arranges private safari travel for your party. Park entry and normal attraction visits remain shared with other visitors; a private vehicle does not give exclusive access to a park or attraction.
Can I combine several destinations?
Yes. The reviewed itineraries combine destinations including the Maasai Mara, the Rift Valley lakes, Amboseli, Tsavo and Diani. The selected daily programme sets out the actual route, nights and road or air transfers.
How many days should I allow?
Start with your available nights and the places that matter most to you. Transfer days use part of your time, and a day visit is different from an overnight safari. The destination pages explain the planning choices; each trip lists its own duration and itinerary.
Can I include Nairobi visits before or after safari?
Yes. The Nairobi destination pages cover the national park, Sheldrick Elephant Nursery, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum and Kobe Tough. The Nursery’s public hour is 11am–noon, except 25 December, and requires advance booking with official Trust confirmation. Allow for travel between stops.
Where can I find the price and inclusions?
Open a destination page to compare its featured trips, then read the selected trip’s price basis, itinerary and inclusions. Dates, party size, accommodation and transport arrangements determine the appropriate quote. Retail purchases and activities outside the written inclusions are separate.
Are wildlife sightings or migration crossings guaranteed?
No. Wild animals move freely, and weather and habitat conditions affect what can be seen. Plan for the destination as a whole rather than a guaranteed species or river-crossing event.
