A place with its own character
Why choose Lake Naivasha?
Lake Naivasha is a useful place to slow a Kenya itinerary. Lake excursions, birdlife and nearby active outings give it a different character from a vehicle-focused park safari.
Choose a day tour for a short visit or stay one or two nights to combine lake time with Hell’s Gate. Longer routes can continue to Nakuru, Amboseli or the Mara.
Start with a route
Your Lake Naivasha journey starts here.

Want a different pace?
Add a night, change the route or tell us what matters most. Use these itineraries as a starting point for a private trip.
Each destination has its own landscapes, wildlife habitats and activities. Private guiding follows the booked itinerary and the permitted routes.
A little time to notice more.
01
Explore from the water
Lake Naivasha boat excursions use a local boat operator, life jackets and routes appropriate to conditions, with distance maintained from hippos.
02
Watch the birdlife
Spend time observing the lakeshore and acacia trees. Bird sightings change with conditions, making a patient pace more rewarding than a checklist.
03
Add a guided walk or cycling
Crescent Island and Hell’s Gate are separate attractions. Confirm access, guide arrangements, ability requirements and any extra entries.
Good to know
Lake Naivasha is not the same place as Lake Nakuru National Park. Boat excursions, Crescent Island and Hell’s Gate have separate access and costs.
Choose a base that makes sense
Where you stay shapes your safari.
Camp and lodge location determines access to wildlife areas and the length of transfers. The accommodation booking identifies the property, room category and meal plan.
A lakeside lodge
Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort provides a lakeside accommodation base for an overnight stay and time around the lake.
A simpler local stay
Private lake visits can use modest local accommodation. The room, meals and transfers to the boat departure point form part of the itinerary.
A longer Rift Valley route
Split nights between Naivasha and Nakuru when you want both lake activities and a national-park game drive.
Compare the whole trip.
The safari total covers the items listed in the quotation: accommodation, meals, private transport, guiding, entries, activities and transfers. Rates vary by season, party size and room arrangement.
A little planning goes a long way
Make the journey work for you.
Choose a day tour for a short visit or stay one or two nights to combine lake time with Hell’s Gate. Longer routes can continue to Nakuru, Amboseli or the Mara.
When to visit
Lake levels, wind and recent weather influence excursions. We confirm the programme for your dates and keep water-based activities subject to suitable conditions.
Fees and what is included
Entry fees follow the park or conservancy authority, visitor category, age, travel dates and activities. The safari quotation itemises the entries included in the itinerary.
Park road safaris use an exclusive vehicle and guide. Tour minivans and Land Cruiser 4x4s provide the transport options, with the vehicle matched to the itinerary and party.

Thanks to Douglas for an amazing tour. We choose the 4 wheel jeep and it was worth it as roads were very bumpy. Our day was very well organized and we enjoyed every moment.

We were able to see so many animals up close. In addition to seeing all the big 5, he pointed out beautiful birds and all kinds of other wildlife.
Going before the high season felt like a big win. We didn’t see the wildebeest migration, but we also didn’t have to battle crowds and it felt like we had the park to ourselves.
The lodge he booked for us was amazing, and he made our pickup and drop off a seamless experience…
