9-Day Mara, Rift Valley, Amboseli and Diani Safari

The safari travels from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara. The afternoon game drive introduces the reserve’s grassland and wooded habitats, looking for grazing herds, elephants and predators along suitable viewing routes.

Your guide chooses stops around the animals encountered and allows time to observe wildlife behaviour and photograph the savannah landscape. A full Mara game-viewing day follows.

Morning and afternoon game drives explore the booked Mara sector’s open plains, wooded margins and riverine habitats. Your guide looks for wildlife across these different settings and pauses for observation at suitable sightings.

The programme combines mammal viewing, birds and landscape observation within the booked sector. It does not include a Mara Triangle visit.

The circuit leaves the Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park. The afternoon game drive introduces the lake, woodland and grassland habitats, looking for rhinos, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife from authorised park roads.

Waterbirds add another focus along the lakeshore. Viewing stops respond to the birds and animals present rather than a fixed flamingo concentration or particular predator sighting.

The programme continues from Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha. The afternoon boat safari explores the freshwater lake, with opportunities to observe hippos and waterbirds from the operator’s route.

The lakeside setting offers a different environment from the preceding park drives. The day concludes at Naivasha before the following full day’s boat-and-sanctuary programme.

The day remains at Lake Naivasha for the scheduled boat trip and Crescent Island visit. The boat operator leads the lake route under the crew’s safety arrangements before the programme continues to the sanctuary.

The Crescent Island walk follows open paths through grazing habitat beside the lake. The guide introduces the landscape and looks for wildlife at a respectful distance before returning to the Naivasha base for the second lakeside overnight.

The safari leaves Lake Naivasha for Amboseli National Park. The afternoon game drive introduces Amboseli’s plains and wetland edges, looking for elephants and other wildlife moving through the landscape.

The guide provides time at suitable sightings for observation and photography. Mountain views depend on cloud cover, while the wildlife programme follows the animals encountered along the permitted routes.

Morning and afternoon game drives give the full day to Amboseli. Your guide explores the wetland edges, open plains and acacia woodland, looking for elephants, other mammals and birds.

The two sessions provide time to observe animal behaviour and the park’s different habitats. The day concludes in Amboseli before the coastal departure scheduled for the next stage.

The final Amboseli wildlife session precedes the transfer to the airstrip for the included flight to Ukunda, serving Diani Beach. The programme then continues to the beachfront base for its one coastal overnight.

The afternoon provides time to enjoy the Diani setting. Marine excursions and other optional coastal activities are separately arranged and paid for, rather than included as fixed experiences in this arrival-day programme.

The final morning concludes the Diani stay before the transfer to Ukunda airstrip and the included flight to Nairobi. This completes the eight-night circuit through the Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha, Amboseli and the coast.
