7-Day Samburu Mara & Diani Beach – Bush to Beach Adventure

7 Days 6 Nights

Overview

A Samburu Mara Diani Beach safari is the definitive Kenya bush to beach adventure, covering the country’s most ecologically diverse safari circuit before rewarding you with the tropical splendour of the Indian Ocean coast. This 7-day journey begins in Kenya’s dramatic northern frontier at Samburu National Reserve, where the Ewaso Nyiro River carves through arid semi-desert landscapes and the famous Samburu Special Five species, found nowhere in Kenya’s southern parks, present a completely unique wildlife experience. A scenic bush flight then transports you south to the legendary Maasai Mara for Big Five encounters on the golden savannah before a final flight delivers you to Diani Beach for two nights of well-earned coastal relaxation. No other 7-day Kenya itinerary covers the ecological breadth of this safari, from the semi-arid northern bush where Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and gerenuk roam, to the sweeping open plains where lion prides and cheetah hunt across the Mara, to the brilliant turquoise Indian Ocean where coral gardens teem with marine life. Samburu’s ancient volcanic landscape, rust-red soil, and dense doum palm riverine forest creates a photographic backdrop radically different from the Mara, and the contrast between the two environments experienced within a single safari makes this one of Kenya’s most rewarding itineraries. The Maasai Mara continues to deliver the density of large mammals and high predator diversity that has made it East Africa’s most visited wildlife destination, and a full game drive day here ensures the Big Five are well represented. Diani Beach then provides the perfect finale, its reef-protected lagoon, fresh Swahili seafood, and warm Indian Ocean breezes washing away the dust of the northern and southern bush in the most pleasurable way imaginable.

Highly recommend Kelvin of Rustic Nature Tours. We saw his great reviews on Facebook. We wanted to be in a small group and to visit the elephants orphanage and giraffe santiary in Nairobi. Kevin delivered all this and took us to a wonderful community project making beautiful beads. We highly recommend Kelvin and his professionalism.

We wanted to be in a small group and wanted to do a half day tour to experience the amazing elephant orphanage in Nairobi National Park and the giraffes sanctuary. We also didn’t want to have to go out too early having only just arrived. Kelvin of ‘Rustic Nature Tours’ delivered this all perfectly for us. A she took us to a community project supporting local women with making beautiful beads which was wonderful. He was very knowledgable and interesting and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and this company. They also do all sorts of Safaris so we will contact him again when we return. PS please note separate to any tour booking the guest must pay a park fee per person and it’s best to do this in advance via the National park website

Found Rustic tours via a recommendation on Facebook as I needed a Nairobi layover tour guide. Contacted Kelvin and we agreed quickly on what to do and see. He picked us up on airport in the morning in his crazy safari car and we saw downtown, giraffes and we did the Nairobi safari. Got to day that I laughed a lot with Kelvin as he is a great person! He did everything he could so we could see as much as possible in our short time window. See you again my friend!

Had a long layover and booked this last minute. So glad I did! Nicole kept our bags in the car and took us back to the airport after the drive. What a drive! Saw a family of rhinos and a pride of lions. Nicole also recommended a Kenyan cuisine restaurant when we asked. She was very knowledgeable, funny, and we really enjoyed our time with her and the tour. Recommend to everyone

What a fantastic day tour to Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage, and a surprise garden lunch. Our guide, Calvin, a top notch birder and guide paced the day perfectly and provided us with an excellent experience! We have travelled to Kenya multiple times, but our private tour with Rustic Nature Tours and Calvin in particular ranks as a highlight among our experiences.

The sights were once in a lifetime - elephant orphanage and giraffe sanctuary worth a trip to Nairobi. Kelvin, our guide, was great - picked us up on time, pointed out animals on the way, was full of information. Will refer any friends visiting Nairobi his way!
