Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Your party leaves Nairobi for Samburu National Reserve, where an afternoon game drive introduces the Ewaso Nyiro river corridor and surrounding wildlife habitats. Your guide searches for animals using the riverine vegetation, open ground and dry-country landscape, allowing time to watch wildlife encountered along the route. The outing establishes the northern safari setting before the full day of Samburu exploration that follows.

Full Day Samburu Game Drives

Your guide explains the conservancy setting as the programme moves from Samburu’s dry-country environment to the Laikipia landscape. This is the first of three Ol Pejeta nights, with no separate unidentified conservancy stage.

Day 04 :

Ol Pejeta Game Drive and Guided Bush Walk

A morning game drive explores Ol Pejeta before the included conservancy-guided bush and bird walk. The walk changes the viewing perspective from the safari vehicle to the habitat at ground level, with authorised guiding arrangements and attention to the plants, birds, tracks and other signs encountered. The programme combines vehicle-based wildlife observation with the guided walking experience, allowing time to appreciate different parts of the conservancy’s environment.

Ol Pejeta Conservation Experiences

The day’s conservation programme includes the northern white rhino experience and the standard Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary visit, together with further game viewing in Ol Pejeta. The rhino visit introduces the conservancy’s work to protect the animals during a booked session, while the sanctuary visit focuses on its rescued chimpanzees. The rhino appointment can move within the Ol Pejeta stay to follow permitted visiting days. Game viewing completes the day’s exploration of the conservancy.

Day 06 :

Ol Pejeta to Nairobi

A final morning game drive provides a last opportunity to explore Ol Pejeta’s wildlife habitats. Your guide follows suitable viewing routes and allows time to observe animals encountered before departure. Your party then leaves the conservancy for the private return journey to Nairobi, completing the six-day Samburu and Ol Pejeta circuit. The safari ends with the agreed Nairobi drop-off.

Which destinations and nights are included?

Is the northern white rhino visit included?

Yes. The northern white rhino experience is included for eligible participants at a booked permitted session. Ol Pejeta does not offer this visit on Tuesdays and does not admit children under five. Its published sessions are 08:30-09:30, 11:00-12:00 and 15:00-16:30. The booked session and eligible trip dates are confirmed before booking; the appointment may be placed on another permitted day within the Ol Pejeta stay.

Which chimpanzee experience is included?

The standard Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary visit is included. It is a managed sanctuary visit to see rescued chimpanzees, not a search for wild chimpanzees native to Kenya. Behind-the-scenes access is a separate experience and is not included by the standard sanctuary visit.

What does the included guided walk involve?

The programme includes an Ol Pejeta conservancy-guided bush and bird walk. Private-party arrangements, the permitted walking route, guiding requirements and participant eligibility are confirmed for the booking. The walk does not establish unrestricted walking access or permission to approach predators or dens.
