6-Day Mara Safari & Diani Beach Break – Big Five Then Relax

The safari begins with the road journey from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara. The arrival-day afternoon game drive introduces the reserve’s open grassland and wooded habitats, looking for grazing herds, elephants and predators along suitable viewing routes.

Your guide pauses at wildlife sightings for observation and photography. This first Mara session is followed by a full game-viewing day before the coastal flight.

Morning and afternoon game drives explore the Maasai Mara’s grassland, wooded margins and riverine habitats. Your guide follows the wildlife encountered, allowing time to observe animals and their behaviour from suitable viewing positions.

The later session continues the exploration within the booked sector. River-viewing areas provide opportunities to look for hippos, crocodiles and birds where the day’s route reaches permitted access points.

The programme checks out from the Mara base and transfers to the airstrip for the included flight to Ukunda, serving Diani Beach. There is no scheduled morning Mara game drive on this departure day.

The airstrip arrival is followed by the road transfer to the Diani base. The remaining afternoon provides time to settle into the coastal setting and enjoy the beachfront surroundings before two full beach days.

The first full Diani day is at leisure in the beach and resort setting. The programme provides time for the shore and coastal surroundings, with activities chosen around individual interests and the booked property.

Snorkelling, water sports and a dhow sunset cruise are optional, separately arranged outings. A guided eco-tour at Colobus Conservation is another optional visit under its visitor arrangements; it is additional to the included safari and beach stay.

The second full Diani day continues the beach stay. An optional Kisite-Mpunguti marine excursion can be separately arranged through the selected operator, with its booked programme determining the boat, snorkelling or diving activity and access arrangements.

The beach and resort remain available for a day at leisure. Marine excursions and water sports are additional activities, and the programme does not promise a particular marine-wildlife encounter.

The final morning concludes the Diani stay before the road transfer to Ukunda airstrip and the included flight to Nairobi. This completes the two-night Mara wildlife stay and three-night coastal break.
