This private Rift Valley safari combines guided cycling in Hell’s Gate National Park with a Lake Naivasha boat safari and the included guided Crescent Island walk. Cycling follows authorised park tracks through the open valley landscape, while the boat and walking outings explore different wildlife habitats around the lake.
The programme starts and finishes in Nairobi. Budget, Mid-Range and Luxury accommodation options are available, with a private Land Cruiser 4×4 or Safari Minivan for the road journeys. Travel dates, party and the selected services determine the applicable rate; these options are not assumed to have the same price.

Itinerary
The private road journey leaves Nairobi for Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley. On arrival, the afternoon programme includes a guided boat safari on the freshwater lake. The boat guide explores shoreline habitats, looking for hippos and the birds present around the papyrus and open water. Time on the lake offers a different perspective from a land-based safari, with observation directed by the guide and the wildlife encountered. The programme returns to the Naivasha base for the first of three nights.
The day centres on guided cycling in Hell’s Gate National Park. The guide introduces the bicycles and the riding route before leading the party along authorised park tracks. The ride explores the open valley landscape beneath volcanic cliffs, with stops to observe the wildlife and geological features encountered. Zebra, giraffe and other animals can be seen from the route, with the guide directing how the party passes wildlife. The cycling programme returns through the park before the journey back to the Naivasha base.
The included Crescent Island visit explores the sanctuary on foot with the guide. The walking route passes through grassland and acacia woodland, offering a ground-level view of the wildlife encountered while following the sanctuary’s instructions. The guide explains the habitats and animal behaviour observed during the walk. The afternoon is free at the Naivasha base, with optional lakeshore cycling for those wishing to continue the active programme. The third overnight stay remains in the Lake Naivasha area.
A final morning lakeshore stroll provides another opportunity to observe the birds and scenery of Lake Naivasha before checkout. The walk follows the route directed by the guide, with wildlife viewed from an appropriate distance. The private road journey then returns through the Rift Valley region to Nairobi, completing the four-day active safari. No additional park excursion or cycling outing is scheduled after leaving Naivasha, and the programme ends at the agreed Nairobi drop-off.

Crescent Island is a walking game sanctuary on the eastern side of Lake Naivasha. Its connection to the mainland changes with lake levels. Boat transfers are operated by separate companies, not the sanctuary; use the official Crescent Island landing and check for its signboard and staff identification.

The chosen route and confirmed services determine the best fit; calendar dates do not establish dry weather or specific wildlife encounters.
