Spend time observing what the animals are doing, rather than rushing from one sighting to the next. Bring binoculars and keep your camera ready for a wider landscape as well as a close detail.
Plan an elephant-focused visit
Tell us how much time you want to spend in Amboseli and whether photography is a priority. Compare the drive schedule and accommodation location before choosing a trip.
For families, include children’s ages in the enquiry. For photographers, include equipment and passenger numbers so vehicle space can be discussed before confirmation.

Give elephants right of way. Follow your guide, keep to permitted routes and remain in the vehicle except in designated areas. Avoid noise, feeding animals or pressing closer for a photograph.
The Amboseli Trust for Elephants publishes research on elephant families, communication and long-term conservation. Its research programme is separate from a standard safari booking; access to researchers or facilities is not implied.
